Contributor series: Jacinta Crane

Jacinta Crane came to our rescue when we needed a photographer in Brisbane to shoot weaver extraordinaire, Maryann Talia Pau at the Finders Keepers markets for the Many Hands issue. (Take a look at some of the images we couldn't fit into the magazine below!)

Jacinta studied photography at the Brisbane College of Photography & Art where she then had her first photography job, leading to a passion for event photography – which she sees as a great opportunity to make connections and keep her finger on the creative pulse.

As well as photographing events, Jacinta also works with marketing and advertising companies and in her spare time she is currently doing a project with friends, setting up photo shoots at various locations and enjoying the creative freedom that comes with that.

Contributor Series: Jamie Bowering

Jamie Bowering came on board for issue 14 to photograph Luzette Godinez (LUU) and Bevan Galbraith (Captain Ukuleles) - and now we're not letting him go! Jamie has been galavanting around the world for a few years, taking on various fascinating photography projects along the way, such as SYRIA | Land, Cities and People where he spent 2 weeks travelling around Syria, capturing the everyday life of the Syrian people. He is currently working on a couple of projects that are close to being finished - one shot at a Russian summer camp for special needs children and their families. The other, a road trip around the Eastland coast.

Luckily for us, Jamie has decided to come back home to Auckland, at least for the time being. Check out some of his recent work below and head to his website for more stunning imagery.

Contributor series: Olga Bennett

When asked about herself, Olga Bennett humbly replied: "I'm a self taught melbourne based analogue photographer, who wastes too much time reading novels and going to gigs."

Olga's unobtrusive photographic style uses natural light to capture her subjects as naturally as possible. Last year she also self-published her beautiful book Environments: photographs documenting studio spaces of twelve creative people, most of them working in and around Melbourne. 

Olga photographed two of our featured Melbourne artists: Karla Way (Beaches) and Hazel Brown (Otouto). Here are a couple of her shots that we couldn't fit in the mag. We are so lucky to have her on board. 

Helena Sofia

Helena did some great photography for Shelley Thomson's 'Citrus 30' photoshoot project, which was featured in the 1st issue of Extra Curricular. Since then, Helena has gone on to win the Sony/AIPA student photography competition and has got her website up and running. Here are a few of her beautiful landscape images. I get the impression she is often up at dawn to get the perfect shot...

Olga Bennett

Olga Bennett is a Melbourne photographer who is doing a shoot for the upcoming second issue of Extra Curricular. She photographs people in the environments they live and work in, and uses film, resulting in photographs with a beautiful richness and depth.
